The four magic teachers: The ideal school

Ana González’s reflection:
This group presented a creative video to show us what are the problems of the school and how to solve them. On the video a teacher tried to solve all these problems with  help of teachers of other countries. The main ideas to improve the education were to develop a interdisciplinary knowledge, recognize the effort of each children, to change the organization of children in class to improve the communication and the work between children, let them develop their creativity and personality at school and improve the communication between students and teachers.
These are some facts to change the school. It’s easy to find the problems of education but it’s difficult to put them in practice because teachers don’t have enough support to do that. It’s important make people know these changes are necessary and makes them change their minds.  The future of society depend of children. They will be the future citizenship so it’s essential provides them the best education they can receive. The future depend of the present so we have to change the present problems and take action to improve.

Encenciendo Bombillas: The ideal school

This was the first group which presented its video about the ideal school. It was very interesting because they show us how is the present education and the present schools and how they should be. They asked teachers and students about some facts of the school for example the methods of teaching and assessments, the availability for all the students,  the placement of students in classrooms or  the use of technology. We realized with all these interviews  there aren’t the same opportunities for all the students and school don’t help them to develop abilities for their future. To improve all these aspects they create a new school and asked some teachers how should will be the ideal school. The centre of this new school should be the children. All of them are important so the school should be adapted for them. Teachers have to work hard to improve the education and to teach them the necessary values and skills to be independent citizens in the future. To develop these skills teachers should encourage their students at classes. Some examples are to work cooperatively, to know the interest of the children and teach them through these interests. All of that isn’t easy to improve but if all the responsible change their minds the school will change little by little.

Videos about ideal school

Our last work was about ideal school. We had to record a video where we explained our ideal school. To do it, we must read same documents with information about inclusive school, laws about schools and how change a school. Our videos had to include all these ideas.

In general, all ours video was very good and different that it is very important. We made five videos completely different. This showed our capacity to develop our creativity. All groups included the most important things of the documents and all could explain something about it.

In spite of have the same work, we put in our videos some characteristic about us. Nobody is equal that the others. Then, you don’t judge the fish because of it doesn’t know flying and you don’t judge the bird because of it doesn't know swimming. 

LASH: The Ideal School

Date: 13th March.

I think that this video represented very well the theory and the application.

First, they drew the map of the school and explained each area. This was simple but, later, they summarized the theory, selecting the main points and doing diagrams.

The ideal school was supposed to be a dream and, when they wake up, they realized they are still in the flawed educative system. Then, they ask some teachers how it should be changed.

The video was entertaining and dynamic because it had several parts put together and it reflected what we had to do.

The Minions: The Ideal School

Date: 11th March.

Since they are called “the minions”, they used parts of the movie where the minions appear. The concept was very creative; the whole video had a storyline and was like a movie.

They had to make an effort to match the movements and environment of the characters to what they had to say about the ideal school.  The video was enjoyable because of that.

The maps of the school they were about to build were not very detailed, but in general, the video was very good.

The 4 Magic Teachers: The Ideal School

Date: 11th March.

This group made the video with cartoons, using 2 programs, GoAnimate and PowToon. The video was shorter than 10 minutes, which was the set time, but the main ideas were present in it.

Cartoons are a good resource to make videos and the video was entertaining. The last part of the video consisted in writing the main ideas that the ideal school should have; I thought that they could have integrated them in the storyline. Other than that, the video was nice.

Encendiendo bombillas: The Ideal School

Date: 11th March.

Their video lasts 26 minutes, which is quite a long time, but it did not seem like it, it did not bore me.

The first half of the video consists of interviews with the principal, some teachers and some students of different schools, public as well as private. We could see that the principal said that the school gave an answer to all types of students and was very inclusive when the reality was that the school had its limitations, such as the lack of elevators. I think the interviews were a good idea, but they could have used this opportunity to point out the problematic aspects of their responses. Then, they explained how their ideal school would be, using the Sims game and interviewing some of our teachers, which I thought was ok. The thing I would say is that they abused the use of interviews and some of them could have been cut shorter.

All in all, I think that the video was well thought and directed.
